Chronological Timeline 1 -Before his Debut-

He was born as the youngest of four siblings to parents who ran a coffee shop called Mitcham on the outskirts of Satocho, Okayama Prefecture. His family loved music and there was always music playing in the shop. By the way, Kaze doesn’t drink coffee.

At the age of three, Kaze’s father started to teach him how to play the piano on an electronic instrument located upstairs of the cafe during his work. Additionally, Kaze’s father taught him English from an early age.

“Tabiji” is Kaze’s seventh single, released in March 2021.

Hearing his father’s words, “It’s the era of YouTube from now on” he began posting piano performance videos on YouTube. In the winter of the sixth grade, his father took. The video of his cover performance of  ARASHI’s “Everything”. He said, “At first, it was my parents and older brother, I didn’t think anything about it” in the video “Artist on the Rise”.

Kaze started posting videos on the “solakaze” channel with his older brother Sora, featuring performances of enka and Showa era songs. Through this channel, Kaze reveals a different aspect of himself as he and Sora play classic Japanese tunes together.

Kaze enrolled in Okayama Joto High School located in Okayama City. He studied music and spent his days fully immersed in it. Half of the classes were related to music.

This campaign, sponsored by YouTube, aims to showcase emerging artists who are gaining popularity and generating buzz on the platform. This campaign marks the first time a Japanese artist has been selected, back in May 2020.

Mr. Tomonori Kawazu, who is known as Zuzzu-san, first reached out to Kaze in the summer of 2018, after discovering him in late 2017. Kaze told Zuzzu-san, “I have already been approached by various people in the music industry, so no further contact is necessary.” However, he didn’t give up and now he has become an essential part of Kaze. Zuzzzu-san sometimes writes a diary in the Fujii Kaze app.

Official HIGE DANdism, a four-piece piano pop band, and Fujii Kaze, who are now both well-known artists representing Japan, were unknown at the time in 2018. The organizers of the school festival, who had the foresight to allow these two groups to perform, are now being praised after these years.

On March 24th, he performed at the Hiroshima Music Stadium-Haruban ’19 which is a circuit event in Hiroshima City.

Zuzzu-san was convinced that he had found a world-class talent, so he took Kaze to New York. Kaze said, “I hope that one day I can become a sought-after presence in New York City, which would be amazing”.
